vMeasure Parcel Ultima can work on reflective flat surfaces, but it’s not recommended for production workflows because reflective surfaces can cause a high rate of false positives and failed scans, which hurts scan consistency and throughput.
Why reflective surfaces create problems?
- Reflections can confuse edge detection, so the system may detect “extra” edges or miss the real boundary of the item.
What counts as “reflective” here?
- Bright, glossy plastics, aluminum foils & rods, glass jars are common examples of reflective surfaces under the device.
Best practice
- Use a non-reflective (matte) base surface under the item while dimensioning.
