A shipping label holds more than one piece of information. You often have an address, product ID, barcode, and other markings sitting on the same box.
So when you use vMeasure to capture package data, it is natural to ask whether the system also reads the text and markings printed on that label.
Does vMeasure support OCR for reading label characters?
Not yet. vMeasure’s OCR feature is currently under development.
The goal is to read visible information from the package or label instead of relying only on manually entered data.
What information will vMeasure look for on a label?
The feature under development is meant to pick up the details people usually look for on a box or shipping label, such as:
- Addresses
- Product IDs
- Barcodes
- Printed text
- Package markings, including hazard-related markings
In simple terms, the idea is to read the information already printed on the package and bring it into the vMeasure workflow.
