Yes, vMeasure dimensioners can measure items that are wrapped in plastic, including cling film used on parcels and bags.
1) Cling film / stretch wrap (most common)
- Works well because the wrapped item still presents a clear outer boundary.
- Typical use cases include airport check-in bags and packaged SKUs/parcels in pharma and food & beverage workflows.
2) Transparent plastic bags (apparel, produce)
- vMeasure can still dimension these, but the result depends on whether the system can “see” a stable outline.
- If the bag is crinkled, very glossy, or the contents blend into the background, the scan may be inconsistent.
Best practice (simple rule)
- Keep the item inside the ROI and avoid glare hotspots on the plastic.
- If the outline looks incomplete on-screen, redo the scan after repositioning.
