Can ShipStation integrate with warehouse scales for automated weight input?

Yes. ShipStation supports automated weight input from connected scales, but the setup works best when the warehouse is using a compatible workflow. ShipStation’s help documentation says most HID-compliant USB scales can be used when they are connected directly to the workstation and used through ShipStation Connect. From there, users can pull shipment weight into ShipStation while configuring the shipment.

For shipping managers, warehouse supervisors, and operations leads, the real question is usually not whether the connection exists. It is whether the setup removes enough manual work to justify the change. In smaller pack stations, connecting a compatible scale is often worth it because it cuts repeated keying errors and speeds up label creation.
In more complex warehouse environments, the value depends on how weight is captured today, whether each station has its own workstation, and whether the scale hardware fits ShipStation’s supported connection method.

There is also a difference between basic scale input and a broader automated data-capture workflow. ShipStation documents support for pulling weight from USB scales, and it also supports pulling weight and dimensions from a vMeasure dimensioner. So if the warehouse is trying to move beyond simple weight entry and reduce manual shipment setup further, operations leaders may need to evaluate whether a dimensioning-based workflow fits better than a scale-only setup.
